10 greatest footballers of all time

The issue of who is the greatest of all time has been a thing of contention from the days of Pele and Maradona. In the mood of the mourning of the Argentine legend, we compiled a list of 10 Football greatests based on trophies won, international success, adaptability in thriving in different environments, individual records and legacy.


10. George Best

He was fast, skillful and direct in attack. He was so gifted that he brought fans to their feet in appreciation even the opposition fans.

Best was supremely gifted, infusing mazy dribbling, brilliant balance and two-footedness to dazzle opponents but poor lifestyle and lack of discipline brought about the decline of the first footballing household name in his mid 20's. 

The Northern Island Manchester United Icon was as good as his name.

A one-time Ballon d’Or winner who led United to the 1968 European title. He has all the qualities of a fine super star but his lack of longivity placed him behind the rest.

9.Zinedin Ziden 

The ex French international is not remembered by the number of goals he scored because he never scored any. He never scored 50 goals for any club he played for. But his lagacy is intact. He helped redefine the role of the Midfielder. His magnificent ball control, skill and finesse sets him apart.

He was a big game player and was never found wanting in big occasions. He won three trophies in Huge are Madrid and will be remembered for the two goals he scored against Brazil in 1998 world cup finals and the iconic volley against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League finals.


8. Ference Puskás

He won ten league titles and three European Cups.

He scored 622 club goals, 242 in 262 appearances for Real Madrid, and 84 international goals for Hungary in 85 caps. He equally scored four goals in a European League cup finals at Hampden Park against Eintracht Frankfurt and led his Country to the 1954 world cup were they lost after he scored the opening goal.

7. Franz Beckenbauer

6. Alfredo Di Stefano

The Madrid legend was regarded as the world best player in the 50s and 60s. 4.Johan Cluyff

He had incredible skills and was highly loved like a God.
