As the coronavirus pandemic left organizations struggling, Lionel Messi was busy amassing as much wealth as trophies he has amassed in an illustrious career. He has become a billionare. He recently was announced as the highest paid footballer in 2020 being followed behind by Cristiano Ronaldo who was the first footballer to attain the enviable title "billionaire."  According to Forbes, the Barcelona Captain is set to earn £98million in salary and £72million plus £26million in endorsements.  Some of these endorsements include, a boot deal with Adidas, endorsements with Pepsi, Budweiser and OrCam Technologies.  Here are the list of footballers that made the list of highest paid footballers in the year 2020 as was compiled by Forbes.

Barcelona has decided to jettison the services of Luis Suaréz, their third highest goal scorer in history. The new boss (Ronald Koeman) has told him that he is not in his plans and has since isolated him from the first team. The Uruguayan international has been training alone since then and has promised to remain professional to the end of his stay at the club. His contract ends in 2021 but he has become surplus to requirement. However, Juventus has been in talks with the striker and has made serious progress but following interests from Spain, he has slowed down talks to weigh all his options before making a move. Atletico Madrid is one of the interested parties. Suaréz helped the Catalan side to four LaLiga titles, four Spanish Cups and Champions League, Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup wins in 2015.   He scored a total of 198 goals in 283 games. Sjaak Swart, an aAjax legend and a close ally to Ronald Koeman has made it known that Mohammed Salah would be interested in heading to Barcelona and that the Camp Nou new manager really wants him. When pressed further to reveal his source, he insisted that he will say no more. The Dutch Coach is keen on improving his attack-line following the likely departure of Luis Suaréz and Martin Braithwaite. What is left to be seen is if the Egyptian international is willing to leave his fortress for Catalan. He scored 76 goals in 109 games since joining the Anfield outfit.

Chelsea showed more interest in controlling proceedings in the new season with the number and calibre of players that moved to the club this transfer window. Mohammed Salah started the new season with a lot of hunger. He must have felt bad losing out on the golden boot last season and that has led him to start the journey early. He has become the only Liverpool footballer to score in the opening of four successive seasons, sealing it with a hart-trick. The Egyptian has maintained a prolific goal scoring form since moving to Anfield from Rome. His presence has brought out the best in Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, and the goal keeper Allison Becker has backed him for more and also believes that his immediate impact will see the attacking duo of Firmino and Mane get back to work in other to tag along. Liverpool ran away with the three points in a seven goal thriller against Leeds United. They won 4:3 with Mo Salah scoring a hart-trick.
